DITTO TO ALL...... two thumbs up, Residential Fridge, I have gone 3 days with NO issues! Draw is very low amps.

I too prefer the residential refer for the same reasons as mentioned. We run overnight on batteries all the time and not a problem.

We have a residential double door fridge with an ice maker and outside door. Our coach is 11 years old and it was all electric from the start. We have two 8D AGM batteries that are about two years old. My experience is that if you have a full charge at night you go to morning no problem. Our computer generator control has a top off setting that you can program to go off to make sure you have a full charge before time for generators end.

You know I forgot to include that the two 8D's are just for fridge. There are 2 more 8D's that cover the rest of the house power. We like not having to have propane on board. IMHO boon docking is easier with propane.

I switched my 08 MADP from the "Nevercold" to a Sumsung side by side and will never go back. More space + better cooling + worry free, how can you beat that?

Have I seen posts indicating that when replacing an RV frig in a current owned coach that the residential ones are about 1/2 the price of a Nocold? And yet a residential frig in a new coach is an extra cost option. If this is the case I'd think the residential frig in a new coach order would be a no brainer.

Maybe included in the residential fridge option is a inverter/converter and extra batteries for the fridge.

I think the bulk of the extra cost for ordering with a residential fridge is the additional batteries, bigger/better inverter, power management system, and autostart on the gennie. Most of those don't come standard until you need them... and the residential fridge tips the scale.

All of those, IMHO, are excellent to have either way!

When Dometic bought me out of my 3 year old Model 1402 side by side last year after they gave up trying to repair it under my extended warranty, they paid me what they said was the manufacturers cost....$4,300. My new Samsung RF197 cost under 1200.00 but lots more than that in sweat equity to modify the coach to accept it. Also it is much lighter than the Dumb-Etic. I have run it on battery only for 36 hours on 4 6V GC2's and still had ok coach power. Go residential and spare yourself future aggravation. Plus it holds more and is much quieter.

Thanks for all of your reply's. I am going for the residential fridge and going to order as many batteries as possible and the largest inverter possible. My option sheet shows a Maytag 22 Refrigerator, 2000 Watt Pure Sine Inverter & 2 Extra Batteries. Will they do the 2800 inverter like what comes with the Hydronic Heat option?

Stay away from Norcold. Class action law suite in progress due to their dismal action on the dual door 1200 refrig. Hey Norcold, due you follow all the posts against your products. No wonder RV manufacturers are installing more and more residential units. If you won't do the right thing the installers will. Improve your units, if not, stop making your fire traps.

It never hurts to ask, well worth your time. The worst they can say is no.

This is unnecessary unless you plan on doing a lot of boondocking. We have 4 6-volt batteries and a very small solar panel and do just fine while traveling from one CG to another.
