Residential Refrigerator Replacement for 2001 MA?
Asking for a friend with a 2001 Mountain Aire. What have any of you used to replace your old Dometic model NDR1062 and will it run on a MSW inverter?

I looked into replacing our NDR1062 with a residential unit but didn't find a size specific one. Others required major cabinet reconstruction and trim to look as a factory install. Instead I replaced the cooling unit with a 120v HVAC supplied by JC Refrigeration in Shipshewana, Indiana. Unit arrived in good condition within five days of ordering. Cost was reasonable, $595 + $85 shipping and included a three year warranty. Installation instructions were detailed and easy to follow. My removal and new unit installation was completed in three days, this was taking my time (I'm a perfectionist) and making the necessary electrical modifications between my power panel and the inverter panel. Factory install allows for a two hour installation time but I can't see that. Outcome, very pleased with being able to cool the unit to operating levels within 4-6 hours vs. 24 hours for the old gas absorption unit. I maintain 33 degrees in the fridge and -2 in the freezer. It keeps the ice cream hard too. Works on genset, shore power and inverter power (inverter alone with a four battery system gave me around five days operation before low battery power shut down my inverter).

This link will give him an idea of what is involved, changing the cooling unit by Amish would be least costly as said by owners in video's.

I replaced our NDR1062 with a Frigidaire.

Below are all the options I reviewed prior to going with the Frigidaire. I also considered a conversion but the NDR1062 had seen better days, inside wire shelves were rusting, door had the hinge fixes installed. Residential swap worked out so much nicer.

In order to replace your refer, don't you have to remove your windshield?

If you stick with the same ~10 cf unit it will go in through entry door.

I installed a 15cf Haier (used to be GE) bottom freezer refrigerator from Home Depot in our 2004 MADP. It is a modern design that works with MSW inverter power. It fit through the front door.

Here is a 12V unit that will likely slide right in to the existing space with very little modifications.
This unit would likely be able to use the exiting 12V lead that is there for your Dometic unit. Direct 12V would not need to have an inverter running to keep the refrigerator going while parked or while going down the road.
This would save you a bunch of upgrading with an inverted circuit and a 120V residential unit will probably use about 40% more electricity as this unit.

I have a 2005 Mountain Aire 4304. The old Dometic was replaced with a Samsung RF18, like so many others. So far it works flawlessly on the original equipment Magnum inverter from 2005.

I've done three residential refer replacements. All three I used the Samsung RF18. All three fit width wise, but you had to add some height to the cabinet, either change the top or the bottom of the opening.
The Samsung units convert 110volt power to 12DC to power the compressor.....that's why they play well with MSW inverters.
