RF18 ice maker question

The RF18 manual does not answer whether the ice bucket in the display panel shows with ice maker on or off. I assume when off there is nothing in the display panel right or wrong?
Our new RF18 randomly makes a loud noise like maybe an ice maker would make. We are not using the ice maker. I have it set with no ice bucket in the display panel.

When you push the ice off button the panel lites up and if you look it says ice off. I keep mine off most the time unless traveling.

Thanks when I get a step stool and get a few inches away it does say ice in tiny letters in what appears to be an ice bucket.
