Rig history

Looking at buying a used rig. I tried to get the work history on it from Newmar using the VIN number but they will not release it. The main reason is that the initial buyer returned it back in almost immediately. The only information I found on the build order is that they were not happy about some corrosion on the battery and tray and felt it indicated an over lack of quality. That alone seems a bit too annal (and I assume costly) a reason to return the unit but one never knows.

Any suggestion on how to determine if this rig had some real issues?

It would help if you gave us some information like year, model, length, engine etc.

I actually was asking how to discover any specific issues with this one rig. So that's still question No. 1.

Having said that, it's indeed a good idea to ask about generic issues with the year and model. It's a 2011 DS 3734.

Dupedtwo, Can't speak to any specific problems with that model, but generally if it's a Newmar it should be OK. Corrosion on the battery tray is caused by improper battery maintenance. Using mineral oil in each cell will eliminate gassing, which is the cause of corrosion.

Is that Gig Harbor WA?

So its only had one owner since 2011/12?
Are there any stickers/decals on the unit indicating the selling dealer?

You can get the particulars on coach build in the COM_NET link at top of page.
You need last 7 numbers or letters of Vin# or the coach build number with CS added at end of numbers.
If owner does not know how to maintain their batteries that's not Newmars problem.
Here is a Brochure and Owners Guide for you.
Below in my signature are links to many others that relate to the coach.
Good luck in your hunt.

Are you saying this was a Newmar "buy-back".. as in a lemon of some sorts? If I am to understand you correctly, you are saying the factory (not a dealer) bought this rig back from the original purchaser...

If it were me... I would ask the dealer (assuming you're buying it from the dealer) to show you the title and ask if you can contact the previous owner. They may contact them first to see if its ok.. but generally... it shouldn't be a big deal..
