Roll up shade question

We have a 2017 Baystar 3401. The blackout shade that covers the entry door quit working. It seems like the inner spring broke and won’t retract.
Has anyone replaced the same shade with a non-Newmar part?

Have you tried removing shade from bracket and turning the little tensioner on the end?

If it’s a Magnashade, likely it is, go to their website or call them. They handle it direct or they have a parts reseller.

I have discovered the problem. Firstly, I called Newmar parts and the replacement shade takes 8 weeks and cost is $152.00. The maker of the shade is AutoMotion out of Ontario, Canada. I removed the shade and found a broken plastic tab on the tensioner side of the roller. (See photo)
I sent an email to AutoMotion to see if they would just sell the roller as the shade and bracket are fine. Awaiting a response. Click image for larger version

I had the same thing happen on one of my shades... I was trying to adjust it, it felt real "scratchy", so I took it off the mount.. I found a broken plastic tab like yours...

I took it to a place nearby, Temecula Valley RV, who AutoMotion told me was an AutoMotion dealer.

I gave them the shade, they charged about $100, and I got it back fixed and properly adjusted. I just remounted it and it's worked well since..

So I know they sell the replacement parts, just unsure if they sell to non-dealers...

Good luck with your fix...

Glad it worked out for you.....

The people at Temecula Valley RV are actually pretty good people to work with..

Their labor rate isn't cheap, but competitive, and they do a good job of getting jobs done with a reasonable amount of labor time.

They often get a bad rap, because it takes a while to get in for an appointment, and you often have to leave the coach a few weeks (or more if they have to order parts)...

But they are that busy, and that busy for a reason... They are pretty good (so far for me) at what they do...
