Roof Cleaning

Thanks to my sister-in-law who told me about a roof cleaning product she uses on her 5th wheel called Jomax. (purchased at Lowes). Below are before, during and after pics of the roof on our MountainAire.

Wow, nice

Looked up Jomax on Amazon. There are several versions. Which did you use?

The Jomax I looked up at Lowes is a deck paint and stain remover. NO. WAY am I getting a paint stripper anywhere near my RV exterior paint.

Good God, I wouldn't use a paint stripper on my roof either.
Jomax makes several products. I used the vinyl/rubber cleaner.

You might try water, car washing soap, and a bit of bleach. Spray it on let it sit a while then hose it off. No rubbing, no scrubbing, not much effort.

I always worry that I might use something on the roof that would leave streaks or stains down the sides of the coach before I could get it all rinsed off, especially a cleaner that could strip the wax off. It's hard to scrub the roof and still run enough water down the sides to clean it all off. Kind of need to be washing the roof and both sides at the same time.

x2 on the bleach. Check your owner's manual. Mine listed bleach as an 'approved' cleaner and it was very easy to do. I mixed 1 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water, sprayed it on, let it set a few minutes then rinsed it off. I have a previous post somewhere with pictures. I haven't quite figured out how to link to a previous post...yet.

This is what my 15yr. old roof looks like after using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Mop and dish washing liquid.

I use Meguires wash-wax on the roof. Assist with rv protection and mildew build up. I wash sides afterwards with same product. Used for 7 years or more. Be careful with abrasive products.

I always used spic and span on my rubber and tpo roofs with great results. Be careful with simple green if your coach has. Vinyl decals as it will ruin them. My new coach has a fiberglass roof and I use blue coral car wash and then use a good grade auto wax. Full body paint was a 10,000 dollar option on my new coach and I don't want to take a chance of using anything that might dull, spot or streak it. The paint job is beautiful.

There are two surfaces in this Motor home I treat much alike

The kitchen floor
And the roof

here are the differences:
Kitchen floor I use a mop.. on the roof I use a long handled "Van Wash" brush (Telescoping handle fully extended it is mop handle length) seems to do a better job than the kitchen mop.

On the kitchen I mop with Spic & Span and water, then again with just water

on the roof I mop with Spic & SPan and water, Then I hose it off with a garden hose and sprayer.
