Roof leaking under front A/C unit
I've a bit of a problem. The title sums it up, however, a bit of background. The Dometic unit was replaced by the first owner under warranty. I had the rig in to Camp Newmar back in March for service. When the tech looked at the AC he said that it was not installed with the correct gasket between the feed and return...as I remember. In addition, he noticed that the ceiling under the unit had sagged. After removing one of the lights he found that the insulation was damp...probably from melting snow.
Fast forward to this weekend. My unit has been in storage. I had left the light out of the ceiling to make sure that any moisture would evaporate...didn't happen. It was quite wet. Lots of rain recently. I checked the usual spots for sealant cracks: sat dish, skylights, etc, and lap sealed any crack. I immediately tarped and duct taped all around the unit and began pumping air into the ceiling cavity in the coach.
Now what?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Was the seal removed and correct one installed by Newmar or Newmar dealer after they found the first leak?
Have you checked the four bolts holding AC to roof?
Did they do anything to correct the dip in roof under the AC unit?
In QT's 1 & 2 you will find AC mounting directions and spec's.
You also have this link for other problems.
This Newmar search has various roof leaks under AC units.

I went over 3 years with roof leaks in another make. Multiple trips to the manufacturer, multiple ceiling replacements. Final solution was a small gap between the gasket & the A/C was causing the humid air intake to mix with the colder dry output and condensate causing the ceiling to leak. No problems after that was properly fixed.

Thanks for your post we have had those conditions also by members in this forum, during warm weather, the OP has a leak when in storage over winter months and posible seal problem and a dip in roof the AC is sitting on.

Thanks 007. I'm going to look over the work order when I get home to check and see if it is on there. I remember being somewhat dazed when I got the bill.
I'll check the bolts and use the string method the check the roof.
I had "ASSUMED" that Newmar would have checked all of that while I was there.
Thanks again.

I just checked the Newmar invoice and I see that they installed:
2 "GSKT A/C ROOF MTG KIT DOM"
ETHAFOAM - BLK
CROSSOVER GASKETS ON A/C #1 & #2
Again, I would 'assume'' that the roof was checked by the mechanic for sagging by the A/C units, but, I don't believe that I'd be able to do it myself.
I will give the mounting bolts a bit more torque and see if that might do the trick.
Otherwise I suppose I'll have to take it somewhere local as I really don't want to go all the way back to Newmar for this.
Thanks again!

I would say they used correct seals from your work order list, as to roof dip unless you mentioned it maybe not.
I would call them and tell them still a leak, request a Mobil Tech to correct, their work should be under warranty for correcting.
