Rope lights and entrance steps

I have a 2004 Mountainaire 4301 and I have two new issues I need help with.

1. In the bedroom, there are two separate strips if rope lights in the ceiling. They are both on the same switch. All of a sudden, one day this week, one of the strips stopped working.....the whole strip. The other strip works fine. I don't know where to begin looking for this loose wire..

2. Also recently, my steps inside the entrance (not outside) do not raise up any more. I can't find the fuse for this, so I don't know if it's the fuse or not.

Any help would be appreciated on both of these issues.

We have an 04 Essex and I think I can answer your questions. On the lights it sound like either the connection is loss or the strip has burned out. To check the connection you will need to take the crown molding down on the right side [passenger side] to check or replace lights. Not easy to get molding down or check connection or to replace lights not working. 12 volt lights i got from Newmar. Make sure to get the attachment pins if replacing. If just a couple lights not working on the string tap on them and many times they will relight.
Fuse for step is under motor home step outside.

Hi Tom. Thanks. I am referring to the step inside the motorhome that raises up in front of the passenger seat so that DW can get off the co-pilot chair without stepping into a hole.... Is that fuse outside under the retracting outside steps??

Take a look at this thread you may have a gear stripped or motor not mounted and loose.
More step info in QT's # 3.
In QT's # 3 you will also find this for 12v wiring and fuse locations.
The lights in bedroom gently tap the strip of lights with spoon and you may get most of them to come on.

Ok. My step cover doesn't make any noise at all. There was no warning. One day it worked, the next day it didn't. That doesn't seem like a motor problem, it seems more like an electrical connection lost. Can the step cover be lifted safely by hand to see what is underneath?

Also, since the whole strip of lights went out all at once, it also seems like a lost electrical connection. I assume that I would have to get under the crown moulding to see anything, as was suggested. Thanks for the ideas.

Before you take crown molding off; take a wooden spoon and give the light strip several good whacks in several places starting at one end and work over to the other end.

Worth a try....worked for me on a previous DSDP.

Does anyone know how to get under the step cover to check the motor if the switch will not work to raise them?

LED lights seem to be like that. We have a tree beside our unit that we have loaded with LED rope lights. One day the string will be working the next day - nothing.

We have had some success with flexing the rope. Some times they will come on and work for a while but that will only work for so long. Soon it is off to Home Depot for a replacement string.
