iRV2 member "trehcub" (Steve) gets credit for both items.
Here at the factory, Steve told me that the standard 5" diameter filter has been replaced by a 5 3/8" diameter filter, which fits much better and prevents the return air from bypassing the filter around the edges.
They do indeed fit much better.
The filters are part # 109179P @ 53 cents each.
Secondly, Steve recommended placing the dirty filters in a lingerie or fine washables bag and washing the filters in the washing machine.
That worked great, and was much better than hand washing them in the sink.
