Rubber Roof
Bought 1999 dutch star dp just found out it has a rubber roof. There are no leaks and I see no cracks. Just wondering if this is a good or bad thing? I actually thought it was fiberglass.

Rubber roof
So far we've had three RV's with rubber roofs. Clean it with rubber roof cleaner and conditioner. Inspect it for tears and watch out for low hanging trees.
Had an aluminum roof. It leaked around the joints/rivets. Had a fiberglass roof, it cracked and leaked around the front cap. So far rubber roofs have been good to us.

Newmar's instruction is to wash the roof at least once a year with Murphy Oil Soap and treat it with a UV blocker such as Aerospace 303.
With a little TLC, this roof will outlast the coach.
Check around the vents and all joints looking for deteriorating sealing. If you find visible cracking, peel the sealant away, clean the surface and apply a new liberal layer of Dicor Self Levelling Sealant. Do not use Silicone on the rubber portion of the roof.
Do Not use any Petroleum Based Cleaners or Sealing Products. If you must use a Petroleum Based cleaner, apply it to a rag and use it sparingly to get the clean up done and then clean up with soap and water to remove Petroleum Residue.
If you do a search in the Newmar Forum, you will find lots of information on this and a host of other subjects related to the care of your coach. Beware of well meaning, helpful tips from folks who are not familiar with the Britec Roof on your Newmar.

As has been said, a EDPM (rubber) roof is ideal for a moving, flexing surface like an RV. It's a proven product that's been used on flat roofs all over. Cleaning, inspecting caulked piercings and a new protective coating after it starts to wear down to the black rubber is all it needs for many years service. If you check on YouTube, you'll find many videos on care and repair of an RV EDPM roof.
If you Google 'Aerospace 303' you'll find many sources, here's one:
Amazon.com: 303 Products 30350 Aerospace Protectant - 32 oz.: Automotive

Rubber roof
We have a 98 Dutchstar with a rubber roof. It was not in good shape when I bought it as it had been sitting for a few years. A good cleaning with the products recommended and it is doing fine. I usually treat the roof with a protectant a couple of times during the season as it does sit outside all year round. I do carry a patch kit with me to be on the safe side.
