Running the furnace down the road
I have a propane fired furnace, no oasis or aqua hot. Newmar service says OK to run it while driving but I am hesitate to have propane going while moving. Thoughts?

Did it for years with our MH's since 1988 and never had a problem. Had the last Dutch Star for 13 years and it was working just fine.
There are lots of propane powered vehicles out there. I'm pretty sure they have the propane on too!

Many people do it and have no issues. However, the documentation for the furnace says not to do it. Lawyer speak I'm sure, so make your own decision.

I have done it since 1974. Never had a problem. Of course I am crazy because I leave the Ref. on gas while traveling. My wife gets up and brings me a coke while traveling. We are wild and crazy folks.

My gas is on all the time as I travel, mainly to keep the fridge going - never a problem since the late 70s. I don't need the furnace, but if I did I wouldn't hesitate to turn it on.

Count me as one who runs the furnace while traveling. There are plenty of safety features in the propane system and propane appliances.

We have always run furnace and fridge on propane, or genny for AC when traveling. Whatever it takes to stay comfortable or we wouldn't be RVing. Just remember to kill heat and fridge before getting near a fuel station. That way the risk is on you and not on others.

I do it all the time if it's cold out. Like someone else said it's probably "lawyer talk" so you can CYA.
Good luck

YES it is perfectly safe to use propane appliances in a self contained RV while in transit.
That is what they re designed for.
If unsafe while in motion I would not feel comfortable using them while sleeping
One issue could be proper air flow.
IF registers or return air are blocked/obstructed due to slideouts being retracted the furnace MAY overheat but if it does it will just trip/shut down AS designed.

If I remember correctly there are some states that prohibit having propane turned on. Usually also not allowed in tunnels, ferrys , etc. I personally have done it numerous times for my fridge, but not the heater. I had an auxillary rear heater in the 2 units I had. Ran off the engine coolant. On the Winnebago it ran thru the hotwater tank and heated the water also!
