Rust in fuel system

We purchased a 2007 Mountain Aire with a Cummins 450 hp engine in March and began a trip from Indiana to Colorado this month. As we neared Oklahoma City the engine began losing power. I contacted a road service who brought out a new fuel filter. When he started to change it he found small chunks of rust in the sediment bowl under the filter. Has anyone else had an issue like this and how can it be corrected. I can only think of replacing the fuel tank. Thanks for any help.

Rust in fuel system

I have seen that in airplane. Steel fittings start rusting on the inside from the moisture in the fuel. The rust starts flaking off, and ends up in the fuel filter. That’s why I always favored stainless in the fuel system, if I had a choice.
I installed a vacuum gauge by the fuel filter that will give me some warning that the filter is starting to clog up.
For some reason this app will not let me post the photo?

As long as you are collecting it in filter you should be OK, the lines have been coated by fuel oil should not cause rust, this link has possible causes for rust.
This link will also get you information for you coach in the TSB link.
All the links below in my signature have answers for your Newmar also.
Safe travels.
