Rusting electric slide locks

Does anyone know of a simple way to operate the electric lock paddles when the slides are extended? Most of my locks have started or are rusting between the paddle and the frame itself. I'd like to hit the areas with Rust-oleum Rust Reformer but need to deploy the locks as they are when the slides are in and locked. Any help, short of buying a $200.00 tool would sure be nice. Thankyou.

Water has caused problems with the slide locks people have had some luck with cleaning the controls here is a thread related to that.
If you go to QT's 1&2 you will find more information on slide locks and their operation where also is slide info.

Thanks for the information about the slides. I have a couple of ideas how to attack the rusting, now.
