Personally I'd rather use the full hook up I paid for. Especially when I know the campground as well as I do where I often go. Having gone there so long I have known every owner and have helped them anytime they had a project going and I was around. This campground has two pumps which cycle at 30 to 50 lbs. the same way as my pump does at my home. I have seen the tests and certifications many times done by the health department posted on the wall in the pump room. On top of that I have a pressure regulator which is set at 60 PSI.
The power needs upgrading but the latest owner has a plan, has already taken out a loan and when he gets to a certain point he will be in line for a grant to help complete the power upgrades. This will be a major undertaking.
This campground started out as a 30 site campground in 1972 and has expanded to 183 sites at last count. Many many FHU seasonal sites. All very well kept. Some daily or weekly sites lack sewer but there is 'Honey Wagon" service available for those who lack it.
I can see no reason to wear out my onboard water pump when it's not necessary. I do carry a spare but I'm in no rush to use it.
