Sani-Con 1.0 vs Turbo

In my 2014 MA I have a Sani-con. I have had absolutely no issues with it. I understand there is now a Turbo model. I have the “box” mount. Does the turbo just make it faster, as the name would suggest? Does it have a 1.5 inch hose vs 1.0 inch hose? Does it matter? I have been reading the thread about the Turbo installed on 2018 and 2019 models. Not very many happy campers out there. Am I missing something here or is it a case of “if aint broke, dont fix it”

The problem has not been with the "box mount" units installed in the Mountain Aire on up; it has been with the 600 model (or, 500; I'm not sure) used in the Dutch Star and Ventana coaches.

As for the hose size, we have the 1.5" in our 2018 MADP. So far, the unit has worked very well. Not familiar with the 1" hose models, but they should be fine.

One issue common to all the models, however, is the relatively fragile hose. Because it wiggles and squirms a bit under pressure, the outer covering can wear through and leak. Some folks have been putting a braided sleeve over their hose to protect it. That seems to help.

Finally, as for speed of emptying the tanks; yes, the Turbo is a bit faster. That said, even the regular unit are probably faster than a gravity dump. And, a lot less messy to use.

We had an “original” box mount sanicon on a previous coach I rarely used it because I found it agonizingly slow. I installed a turbo 700 on our current coach the thing is very fast I love it and use it unless I am doing extensive tank flushing.

Twincamsam, if you open the box that your pump/motor is mounted in you will find that it is mounted upside down in that box. The result of that is the drain hole in the housing between the pump/motor is on top. When the pump seal leaks it will fill the motor and fail. If that does happen you can purchase the same unit online for about $100.00 then just put your adapter parts on the new unit. Also When I replaced mine I cut the bell off at the threads on the pump. It will increase the inlet by about 1/4" I also cut the end of the Discharge head off just below the 3" threaded portion it gives the discharge free flow. Then purchase a PVC 3"cap and drill and thread a pipe to hose adapter in it to screw your hose cap onto. The Threaded PVC cap will screw on the dump elbow for a cap to seal it up the sewage seems to flow better and faster. When I replaced my pump/motor i also just threw the box away it is not needed.
Good Luck
JP
