Sanicon extension hose???

This is the first time i’ve Had a sanicon system.
The question is do I need to buy and extension hose in the event the sewer line is a distance away or do I simply put a hose on the end of the sanicon line where there is a connection for a hose?

Just attach a regular garden hose to the Sanicon. Macerator and pump will take care of the solids.

We've used a 80' 3/4" garden hose (appropriately colored gray) for pumping into a cleanout with our macerator pump with no issues at all. Others on this forum have had good luck with 5/8"garden hoses as well.

On my 2018 DSDP with the installed Sanicon factory option, I tried very unsuccessfully to use a regular garden hose as an extension. First time I used a standard 35 ft, 3/8 in diameter garden hose, and I noticed that the Sanicon discharge hose (which is 1.5 inch diameter) began to swell quickly and appreciably over about an 8 in section when the pump was running. Like a big blister. Turned it off quickly before that balloon popped. Whew!

After then CAREFULLY reading the manual, I noted that the manufacturer (Thetford) stipulated that a minimum 3/4 in diameter hose be used as an extension. That is a contractor hose - not a regular household garden hose. I bought one, and cut off all but about 15 ft of the hose. Remember that pressure drop in a fluid line is a function of length divided by diameter. So to reduce the pressure upstream of the contractor hose, I wanted to go with the largest diameter and shortest length that I could get away with. When I used this configuration, it worked somewhat better - enough to finish the job - BUT there was still some ballooning of the regular Sanicon hose.

The turbo Sanicon unit Newmar factory option has MUCH MORE discharge pressure and flow than the Sanicon system I had in my prior coach. Using a garden hose as an extension with this unit is an invitation to a REALLY BAD EVENT, and I won't be using even the shortened 3/4 inch hose as an extension again. I'm ordering another Sanicon hose that can very safely double the length of the original Sanicon system reach.

Boiler73, Thanks for the heads up on the increased flow on the turbo system. Something else to add to my ever increasing list of things to buy.

After 6 years of Sanicon use, we have only had one occasion where the standard hose wouldn't reach. After 4 days at the campsite we just closed the slides, backed up 20' and dumped the tanks. We then moved forward and put the slides out again. We were only staying a week so we only needed to move once.
I can see buying and carrying that extra hose if you need it a lot, but for a "once in a while" situation it is not necessary.

I have had no issue using over 50’ of garden hose as an extension at my S&B. I didn’t recall the diameter of the hose.

I purchased an additional Sanicon discharge hose and used Banjo Quick Couple fittings to put it all together. Works like a charm....

Keep it stored in the compartment above the driver side rear wheels.

We have a Sanicon Turbo on our coach. I am curious if there is an adapter that would screw on where the large cap (3" I believe) is so that you can add a traditional 3" dump hose extension. It would have female threads on one end and 4-lug twist lock connector on the other end. Not sure if they make such an adapter as I have been looking with no success.

I never cared for the hose end that came on the SaniCon, it was hard to screw in unless you disconnect the end. I made my own and will attempt to make one for the new larger unit. My threaded discs in the photo below, free spin around the drain tube.

Both 3" and 4" are common.

Be sure it's a 3/4" hose and not a 5/8"
