Sanicon turbo model comparison

In reading the many posts regarding the factory installed option for Sanicon on the Dutch star, I have been reluctant to purchase this.

To summarize what I have read:
The model is a 600s turbo, which does not appear to be the best option for the water bay of the Dutch star. It uses a short 3in hose to attach to a separate motor pump. The location of the pump along with orientation makes it nearly impossible to drain all of the fluids, leaving two problems: smell and small amounts of leaking fluid when disconnecting the 3in hose.

I found the turbo 400s, and it appears to resolve all of these issues. It is short enough to install on the drain connection and leave in place, but if it needs to be removed this should be just as simple.

Does anyone have experience with the 400s, and a reason why this won't work?

Hello Redbaron,
I just installed the Sani-con you are talking about and have included photos.
http://www.irv2.com/forums/f103/i-ju...ds-393380.html

I never disconnect the 3" clear elbow and tube but can if the system fails nor have I experienced any smells. The speed of the turbo system emptying the tanks combined with the ease of attaching a slinky in case of a failure made for my choosing the turbo. I will readjust the Newmar outlet to hopefully help drain the little gray water that remains but so far, I am very happy with my decision.

I have used the slinky forever and never made the switch over to Sani-con because of the time it take to drain the tanks with the 1" hose. Some say 15 minutes or so.

I unscrew the large cap to pump out and will be getting a 1" hose to use in case I require the added length.

Good luck on you decision.

The smell takes several months to start, the 1 1/2 inch hose becomes permeated and smells like crazy.

How does the smell which are gasses get past the P traps?

I surly will. That info is at my office and I will return Tuesday. He is a local RV repair company that after I suggested the Sani-con to him became a dealer.

The bacteria gets to the small hose, doesn’t seem like it should, but it does, you will notice when you remove the cap,air pressure will come out.

I wonder if a viable option to remedy that would be add a deodorizer/cleaner to the gray tank then use the bypass feature to fill the hose and leave it for a few days or the next trip. That should kill or stop the bacterial growth I would think.

Following. Was looking into the 400s because of the size and how it might fit in a Bay Star wetbay.

All of the sanicon turbos use the same pump. I want a 600 type mount and will use the 500 type coupler. I have been waiting to hear from a Thetford “gold” dealer for three weeks on buying one from them. They keep telling me they have not heard from Thetford about price/availability. I have a 2015 Cornerstone it will take a bit of replumbing but I will have both the turbo and wastemaster both functional......if I can ever purchase a sanicon turbo.....

Hi Ed Marquardt here. Yes the 400 will work but you will have to support the motor with a strap and the put foam ( like a swimming Noddle) under it to dampen the vibration. Otherwise you will break the bayonet hooks that hold the motor on. 253-266-4699 Pacific Northwest Thetford Rep. emarquardt@thetford.com or edmarquardt@me.com
