This is our first winter in our Scottsdale and it is now beginning to turn cold at night here in Texas. When using the furnace, how well does it heat the areas underneath where the tanks are? About what temperature range could this unit tolerate before problems would occur? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks
Ben

Ben, most Newmars I have had had a weather pkg with a switch for a fan on the water closet board. This fan would come on when ever the furnace came on. If you do not have this option the furnace still has a hose into the tank compartments. In Tx as long as furnace is on, in cold weather, tanks an pipes should be ok. I have been up near Fort Kent Maine in snow storm an we were as warm as toast. "007"

Ben, if you have the fan as 007 says it works well. I once had to stop at night and the weather dropped to minus 5 F. and all was well. I keep a wireless remote sensor in my water closet which I can observe from time to time. They are available from Radio Shack quite cheaply.

We don't have a fan in our water closet, but you both have made me feel better about being in cold weather.

Thanks
Ben

In my opinion I would not use the Scottsdale in real cold weather unless you take other precautions or unless it had a winter package added. You would be OK in mildly freezing weather, but you probably don't have the external heater fan installed - mine doesn't. It probably didn't come with one new. We ran cords and put light bulbs in the water bays and left the lights on and it worked. I have thought about adding something else for cold weather protection this year but have not done it yet. Be careful in really cold weather.
