Screen door issue on 2018 DSDP
I took my pups out just before 7 am and could not get back in my coach. I was stuck outside in 24 degree weather for over an hour. So it would seem that something is going on with the screen door causing the door to get stuck. I tried adjusting the door latch on the screen door and that helped for less than 24 hours. I've taken the latch off for now so I don't get stranded outside again. I feel like I should be able to fix this on my own without calling a mobile tech, but I'm not sure what else to do.
Anybody else have this problem? Any ideas at what to check?
Thanks!
Renee

My screen door was jambing both doors closed too.
After examining the screen door latch, I saw that it was not retracting fully when the handle was locked open with the main door.
I took an box cutter knife and trimmed a 1/8 " off the latch. Now it retracts fully and clears the striker plate.
No more sticking and holding both doors closed.
I trimmed at the red line.

I was not happy with the way you have to open the screen door from the inside so I made this modification. If you don't like the way yours opens this could be a two for one fix. I bought a roll of magnetic tape from H.D. for under $5. I removed the plate (2 screws) that holds the screen door closed. Cut 2 pieces of magnetic tape. When you put the magnetic sides together they slide apart about 3/16". This offset works perfect when you stick them to the screen door and the lip on the door frame. If they stuck equal the magnet would stick out on either the screen door or the lip on the frame. With the way they offset both sides are even with the edge. I removed half of what I first installed because it was to hard to open. It holds very well. I sprayed it with super 77 because it started to come off, the sticky side isn't that sticky. Hope this helps.

We love our Dutch Star, but the screen door drives me nuts. I wish we still had our Winnebago screen door. I was told the 2019's have a much better set-up, does anyone have a picture of the 2019 door? I was wondering if you could get new hardware to put on a 2018. Thanks

Ha! We have a 2019 and have had problems with the screen door latching. We also have problems with the screen flying up when closing the door. We can't use the screen at all. We were told this was a redesign and that all the 2019's are having the same problem. Supposedly working on a "fix" but we haven't heard anything yet. (Waiting since August.)
(I was hoping to get a clue regarding a fix by reading this thread. )

Sorry about the double post, sounds like they need to outsource them from Winnebago, LOL. Everything else is solid has a rock.
