Screen door latch

Spoke to Newmar today and the part to permit the screen door to open without sliding the plexiglass is $120.00. Newmar creates a poor design and then wants to charge a ridiculous price to correct. Has anyone come up with a solution and have a picture?

Might not be a Newmar quality item, but I used a $5 toilet handle mounted in a self made stainless bracket and bent a coat hanger to connect both.......with door and screen closed, do need to slide the slider to open door...could also paint it...to slide the slider, used a Dremel to open a slot in plexiglass just large enough to clear handle

Assuming we are talking about the scree door latch, you can purchase the updated slide window for the screen door directly from PTL for much less than what Newmar charges. Easy to change and PTL has a video online regarding changing the sliding window. Just takes a few minutes to change.

I ordered directly from PTL: Part #023-156. Cost was $62.30 + shipping. It works great...easy install.

Get ahold of PTL Engineering in Lapeer Mich. They will take care of you. I paid $80 for the part you are looking for.

I took the latch off the door jam that holds the screen closed (2 screws) and bought a roll of magnetic tape from H.D. for $5. Now I just push it open.

What is this part and how is it different than what comes in a Newmar DP?

I didnít have a part number, I just called them and gave them the year and model of my coach. They emailed me a drawing and asked me to fill in a couple of measurements and send it back. Very easy to do business with. I believe they produce these parts for Newmar.

The plastic window slide with the handle we are talking about is a little more complicated then it appears. There is a hole that appears hand cut that accommodates a spring for the knob. Not saying itís the only reason for the cost, but Iím sure it adds to it.

Thanks. So is this something different than what comes standard with the coach? Or an ďupgradedĒ version to allow you to open the door without sliding the panel?
