Screw found on floor.

I found a 2.5 inch Phillip's head screw on the floor of our motorhome by the passenger seat.

We have a 2017 Canyon Star 3513.

Any idea as to where it might have come from. I have not used any screws of this variety in our motorhome and I've found no obvious holes missing a screw.

I've only seen robertson head screws on newmar built items like cabinets, etc. My guess is that it probably came from the copilot seat.

Is it a machine screw or self tapping or wood/drywall screw?
There is a good chance it has migrated from under something.
While I was at Newmar, I put the kitchen slide out and a screw that had been under the kitchen cabinet, got stuck between the floor tile and bottom of the cabinet. Split the wood.
I guess what I am trying to say is, I have found a few screws, tape, wood shavings and tools in various places. Especially under the full wall slide.
If it is not a machine screw, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Don't sweat it. Sure save the screw but chances are good it was evidence of poor housekeeping by the mfg. First time I lifted the panels under the mattress I saw a LOT of construction debris, screws, wire clippings, etc. from when coach was built. I'm guessing there are surprises I haven't seen yet.

Check the underside of the passenger seat thoroughly for a similar screw in the seat mechanism.

2.5 inches is a good size screw so where it was used is going to take a little deductive reasoning. Again, machine or wood/metal, that will narrow down the locations. Certainly not your typical cabinet hinge screw, but could be a frame joining screw.

I will be surprised if anyone gets this one right...there are thousands of screws. Could have come from near anywhere. The length can provide some clues. If it's a long screw than it likely was never installed but fell out of the installers hand and finally slid out of it's hiding spot to visible.

Look around and wiggle stuff. If all is good, don't sweat it. Your not "screwed".

While looking at new RV's, found a screw on the floor, handed it to the sales guy. He joked we can build a new RV every month from all the "parts" we find.

If you have ever been on a construction site, perfectly good screws, nails, etc on the ground. Cheaper to "leave it if you drop it", than to bend over and pick it up.

Final clean up is a whole other problem with RV mfg, almost non existant.

I almost find myself laughing...from pain.

Newmar techs, like any contractor drop fasteners and keep moving on the production line. It’s up to the last stop, in which they do house cleanup and “attempt” to blow out and vacuum up leftovers; but far from perfect.

In the past year, I’ve found dozens upon DOZENS of screws, broken or intact, just about EVERYWHERE I’ve looked. From the couch to the slide track to the bays to the top of the slides to the cabinets...I could stock a small hardware store.

What’s more, is that I’ve replaced dozens of BROKEN screws from various places such as the bay doors. Many of these left either a hole, or a screw that needed to be extracted.

It’s taken 15,000 miles to shake out all the hidden treasures.

So...when you say you found “one” screw...I say “Wow! You are lucky!” [emoji23]

I have a drawer for those... I think I have almost an even dozen now. But then I've only owned my RV for just under 3-years.

I have boxes of screws and nuts I've found all over the place. My rig, others, the street (good for lost wrenches and car parts). I found a 2 1/2 to 2" trailer receiver insert the other day on a bike ride in the curb. Fits my Ford great!

We just finished a cleaning of our 2020 New Aire. We found enough loose screws under drawers, slides, seats etc to supply a fair sized hardware store.
