Seat Alarms

Just finished our shakedown cruise with our new 2014 Ventana. Some small electrical gremlins, and a major problem with the Oasis heater (broken valve) but Newmar Customer Service was extremely helpful on all counts. Repairs and gremlins all sorted out.

One item I have not seen elsewhere in the Forum. Our Ventana is equipped with a highly annoying alarm which goes off if either the passenger or drivers seats have not been properly re-set (primarily the leg rest), as I learned from Newmar Service. We were ready to depart, performed all checklists and cross-checks, but could not source the loud alarm which became faster and louder when the unit was put into gear. No warning lights, no flashing indicators, just a very loud alarm. A call to Newmar sorted it out right away. The footrest for the drivers seat had not been fully stowed (1/2" or so out) and that was enough to trigger the alarm. Once re-stowed properly we were happily and quietly on our way.

This is the kind of thing that Newmar might consider for special mention in the owners manual.

MD-Keith, you are not alone, we had the same experience. It is a loud and annoying alarm. If you've never experienced the alarm, then it is very hard to determine why it's going off.

*LOL*......we just did exactly the same thing last week ! Spent an hour checking jacks, topping up fluid, etc etc. Finally called Newmar - first thing he says is check to ensure drivers seat is locked. Sure enuf that was the issue. Learn something every day, and this lesson was a free one.
