Securing New Morryde Freezer Slide Tray
I am installing a new freezer slide tray in my prewired basement compartment. My question is about securing the tray to the floor. If you watch the Morryde installation videos, you just pop a few self tapping screw in place and you are done. I talked to Newmar yesterday to make sure there is nothing in the floor before I start popping screws. The person at Newmar i spoke with said to make sure i hit the steel framework that is spaced 24" on center. As i thought about this some more - the screw holes on that tray are going to land wherever they land. It is a somewhat tight fit so i don't think i will be able to manipulate it much. My tray will have a 90 lb freezer hanging off of it, so i want to do this right. Just need some tips from those that have done it before ...... Help??

If you want to make it really secure, buy some 1.5" wide flat stock and screw it to the floor, at the metal frame rails. Install the slide tray and screw it down t the flat stock. Two strips in the correct location should do it.

Could anyone share pictures of how Newmar does the attachment? I just want to get this right. I am wondering if the reinforce the floors in this compartment given my coach is prewired for the freezer.

I like the idea of the channel to hold down the back of the slide where all the force would be on screws to pull them out. I will do that for sure, but it sure looks like they are just using SMS's to attach to the floor. If i use the steel angle, hopefully I could hit a metal crossmember.

My DS has one from the factory. Underneath in the back is a metal tube it looks like the back 2 self taps are bolted to. In the front it looks like it's going through the floor.
I have taken some pictures but they are to large to be uploaded. If you will PM me your email address I will forward them to you.

I wouldn't worry about adding metal to the top of the slide. I would be more concerned with how secure the mount into the floor is. When I added a s.ude to a bay I used a piece of perforated angle under the bay floor and through bolted the slide. The load then gets spread over the whole area of the angle vs only 2 screw points.
I also had little choice as the slide base width was fixed and had no choice to move holes to hit any bay framing.

I bolted mine through the basement flooring. Used stainless hardware with lock nuts and fabricated 3" fender washers from a scrap piece of lexan for the bottom side.

To be honest....I installed a 3/4 slide tray in the Oasis bay. I just used 1" ss screws (6 of them) and screwed straight into the wood floor. Mine has my toolbox on the outer edge and hasn't been an issue.

I purchased and installed a MORryde slideout in my short bay:
I used several of their wood screws they provided into the wood floor, no bolts to any cross beam. Holds 800 pounds when extended. I love it and use it all the time.

Don,
I bet the dark piece under the back is used to get a screw or two into those cross members.

I'd be ok with nuts, bolts and large fender washers

Hmm, being curious, but if you are worried about the existing screw holes in the frame, and they don't line up with what you want to drill and tap into, why wouldn't you just drill new holes in the frame where you want them to be

Installed a Morryde in another compartment. I had the same concerns you have voiced. Based on the instructions I stayed with wood screws. I went with SS panhead screws that were one size larger. Put in 10 or 12. Been keeping an eye on it and everything is holding just fine.
If I noticed anything pulling out I always had the option to go back and thru-bolt with heavier hardware at a later time.
The easy approach was only a 15 minute job.
