Setting Steering Wheel Straight With Comfort Drive

I noticed that my steering wheel sits at the 11 o'clock position going straight down the road. Anything special i need to tell them to set the wheel straight with the comfort drive system?

I think the easiest way to set the wheel straight is doing the correction at the tie rod ends.........

The CD may need a software reset to find the center. May also need to verify all steering components are in their 'center' position. There 'may be' an alignment issue also with the axles.

If you haven't, you might want to review the sticky on top of the page from Ken Sherwin re; Comfort Drive Guide. You can also ask Ken. He is very helpful in answering question.

Before you go to any shop, you might want to verify they know what the CD is, and have the software to interface to center the CD and know who to do it. I have been to many shops that have no idea what the CD is and often will attempt to remove the steering wheel and place in another spline to center it!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the wheel is centered at the tie rod end's , comfort drive won't know anything changed

We don't know what chassis you have, but on many DP's the tie rod (yes singular) can be adjusted for TOTAL TOE, but will not center a steering wheel.

Assuming you have a DRAG LINK, that can be used to center the steering wheel on most DP suspensions.

I would only adjust it after other "root causes" have been eliminated: dragging brake, ride height out of spec, bad suspension bushing, etc. Particularly true if this is a new problem.

We had the same problem. More like 11:30 but enough to be annoying when driving many hours in a straight line.

Northlake fixed it for a minimal charge. Not sure what the procedure was.

thanks all for the replies. I will call the shop ahead of bringing it in and explain. They have checked the alignment 3-4 times over the last 8 years so I have a history and trust with them. But never noticed the wheel off center.

Had this issue when the coach was delivered. Suspension checked out. Freightliner pulled the steering wheel, re-centered, all good.

CD won't center the wheel. Only a toe adjustment at the tie rods.
