Sewer Hose Storage

I have sewer storage compartment in my Ventana. It houses my primary Rhino sewer hose with fittings attached. There is no room for the sewer extensions. By nature, my 3407 is short on space so I am looking for space to store the extensions.

I have a house battery compartment with eight house batteries. There is sufficient space between the batteries and the roof on the compartment for a thin covered plastic box with lid for sewer hose extensions.

Anybody see see any reason why I couldn't transport this box with the hose extensions on top of the batteries?

Do you have room by your propane tank? I built a rack.Click image for larger version

Looks like you used expanded grate as a floor of the shelf? To keep the propane vented?

Good idea! I'll have to take a look at that tomorrow on mine.

Sewer Hose Storage

5 inch square vinyl fence post sleeve, available at Lowes, HD, etc. Mount beneath the chassis frame. Use a length of vinyl gutter in each one as a sliding tray for easy access. I’ve had three mounted on my DS for about 4 yearsClick image for larger version

Yes it is. That’s what you call maximum utilization of space. Good job.

I thought of that but it she seems like there wouldn't be that much clearance between the ground and in the post. I guess if worked for you for 3 years it must be working I'll have to look into it.

That is an awesome fix. I’ve been looking for a place and a way to stash some gloves and a spray bottle (for when diesel burps out the filler hole while filling) in that compartment. Was thinking about mounting two bicycle water bottle cages on to the bulkhead, but I like your expanded metal solution. How did you mount this in the compartment?

I cut the metal to fit between the rails put a 3inch wall at the back it doesn't touch tank. Drilled a couple of bolt holes and used fender washer to hold grate in place. Service bay always clean and dry.

How did you attach the post sleeve?

There are two longitudinal (fore & aft) stringers about 2-1/2” wide and about 3-1/2 ft apart that support the basement floor structure. I grooved a hefty wooden carrier piece to fit over each one of these, about 4 ft long. After painting the sleeves and end caps I attached the three sleeves to the wood carriers with #10 or #12 SS wood screws. Then, rather than lay on my back and drill through steel several times, I just propped the assembly in position and wrapped 3 SS hose clamps around each carrier and stringer, securing the whole assembly to the steel stringers. See pics.
Your underneath structure may be different, but that worked for me.

I also added easy 'wire shelving' under my DEF tank, creating a simple area where I can throw in my 'stinky slinky', and not worry about where it 'drips'...
