shore power in the rain
We have another short trip coming up to continue learning the Ventana.
It looks like we will have rain most of the time we are at the state park campground. I will check the 30A shore power pedestal before hooking up.
Are there any precautions people take when plugging into power if it's raining?
Thanks
David

Be sure your power cord is in good condition, no tears in insulation, no exposed wires.
Don't touch the box. Turn box breaker off first using a piece of dry wood, they are almost always left on by the previous user.
Don't put one hand on the box when energizing breaker. Maybe use a dry piece of wood to flip breaker on.
Yes, I'm paranoid about electricity since I got knocked unconscious as a teenager.

Rain = no glug m in.
Lightening hits the campground system and your coach will get the tickle !

We carry an old 5 gallon paint bucket.
If plugging in directly, it goes over the box.
If an adapter, the junction from adapter to shore power cord is pushed UP into the bucket.
Have never had water enter an electrical connection.

Rain/water is never a concern with a connection till it is under water......... it can get wet......and cause no problems..........

You can always wear leather work gloves while plugging in. A good idea to inspect power cord for nicks, abrasion, etc. Then run electrical tape around trouble spots or replace the cord.
If worried about rain contacting plug run plastic wrap around the pedestal like your wrapping up a sandwich.
