2018 Dutch Star, 4018 floor plan. My shower drain seems to be draining slowly. What do you folks use to keep your drains flowing at a steady pace?? Thanks in advance for your comments.

I do not have a Newmar but I have a friend who does. There is some kind of a trap in there that he buys the drain cleaner hooks at the big box store. I don't think there are screws to remove the screen over it.

In my Winnebago, I think there is a flap in the pipe that goes to the trap. What I do is let the water run for a minute, while it is still running I take a plunger, hold it over the drain, let about 1 inch of water build and give it a couple couple pumps. The first is always pretty dry but as the 1 inch of water starts to drain I do it several more times. I think it forces water past the little flap and clears it out. I was warned not to do it to hard as not to damage the flap.

The drain cover you see in the shower has a screw in the center. Remove that screw/cover and you'll find another screen (crossbars) underneath it. Those will often hold hair and cause slow draining.

If you have a HEPVO drain valve instead of a P-Trap, DO NOT USE these as it will destroy the rubber duckbill valve. Drano or Liquid Plumbr is recommended for these valves.

DS….. In a 2018 coach, I’m guessing you have a HEPVO valve, as suggested by LtDan. If your shower floor is less than ~5 inches above the base floor, that would tend to confirm the HEPVO. DO NOT use that barbed clean out tool!
My DS is older (2002) so I don’t have to deal with a HEPVO valve, but this same process will be acceptable for you. I buy two bottles of the Mr Plumber brand drain cleaner at Walmart. I use the kitchen sink as my indicator. When that gets a little slow, I clean them all. Or, every 6-8 months regardless. At bedtime I pour about 2/3 bottle down each of my three drains,— kitchen, bath sink, shower. I leave it overnight and flush all three in the morning. This has worked for me for almost 10 years.
