Shower glass replacement
So last night while we were sleeping, a side glass panel of the shower enclosure (approx 12"x64") exploded. We called Newmar this morning and they said the manufacturer does not sell the side panels but we could get the entire shower for around $800.
It looks like it shouldn't be too difficult to repair if I could get the glass. Has anyone had any experience with this before? We are in the Port Charlotte area of Florida.

If it is not curved you should be able to find a glass place that can help you out. If it's curved, you may be out of luck.

Paul, I had that happen to a shower door at home while I was carrying it. Sounded like a gun went off. I understand tempered glass can have that explosive tendency even years after installation. Glad you're ok. I would check with local glass suppliers to see if they could make something like that. If you want to drive south a little, you might want to give Cape Coral Glass & Mirror a call to see if they can help. Or.... maybe consider plexiglass / Lexan.

Almost any glass shop can cut a panel to fit. The problem is that it needs to be tempered and there aren't many that can do it so it needs to be shipped to someplace and then back. That is time consuming and expensive.

Started the cleanup and attempting to repair. The glass that broke was flat but it is glued into the aluminum channel. Gave up for now trying to pry the pieces out of the channel with a screwdriver. Left message with manufacturer this morning but so far no response.

Thank you, I think we are getting our problem resolved.
This afternoon my wife called the Glass Doctor. They said to bring the frame in and that they could repair it. We dropped it off and will get price and delivery tomorrow. Using a shower curtain to cover the hole.

Hope you can get it taken care in short order and reasonably priced. Please update once resolved as I have same year and model. I didn’t realize it was actually glass.

Thank you!
We took the frame to the local Glass Doctor. They ordered a new piece of tempered glass. The old glass is glued into the channel. They are going to clean the old glass out of the frame and put the new glass in the frame. It will cost $100 and we will get it back after the first of Jan. The local guy is heading north for Christmas, the reason for the delay. We cut up a shower curtain to block the hole. All is good!

Shower glass replacement - Follow up
We got the new tempered glass and we replaced it about a month ago. Everything seems to be good now.
While installing the new glass I found the glass was bending as I tightened the screws. The bottom shower frame is straight for the left flat glass panel but there is about a 3/16" gap at the center of the the right glass panel. I backed off the screws and put some silicone and spacers so there wouldn't be stress on the glass.
So I am thinking that my shower glass panel exploded because the bottom frame rail for the shower was not bent properly.

Nor did I realize that it is glass and not some type of acrylic. Are all of the enclosures glass?
