My water pump quit pumping in my 2003 gas Mountain Aire.It ran but no water. It was a Aquajet and I replaced it with a Shurflo 5.7. It pumps great but if the pump is left in the on position for over 10 seconds or so I get a clicking noise in the black box thats located just above the outdoor faucets in the water compartment. The box has a five wire plug-in to it and will stop clicking if you unplug it--also disconects the water pump switch in compartment. Anyone know what this box does or why it clicks with the new pump?? It did not click with old pump and the wires on ther new pump where properly connected.

The black box that has your 50 amp power cable going to it is your transfer switch. That box is in your electric bay rear compartment. The five wire plug is the question, is there a sticker or tag on it to identify? Do you have a surge protector that maybe clicking?

Sounds like a relay that's being overdrawn. When it heats up (10 second) the heat causes it to click off, then on, then off, etc.

Maybe the pump shares a circut with other users and the total of the new pump is drawing more amps than the relay likes and is causing this event?

Overloaded circuts are dangerous. I'd get it checked out quick!

Stubborn,
Welcome to the clicking club. I installed a Shurflo pump in my Mountain Aire two years ago and the clicking noise (same symptoms as yours) started immediately. Since then I have talked to Newmar and Shurflo numerous times with no resolution. Also, I have posted the problem on irv2 and RV.net with no better answers than you have received. So far the only solution I have is to turn the pump off after each use. I will be taking my coach in for the Dometic Refrigerator recall next month and will make another attempt the have the problem identified. I will post the results, positive or negative. Let me know if you receive any suggestions that work.

Stubborn... chances are the box you are referring to is an Intellitec Water Pump Controller. Mine is Part # 00-00776-100. If this is what you have, it's purpose is to handle the high current of a Shurflo 5.7 water pump. They pull up to 15 amps of current. The low current water pump switch can't handle the water pump directly so the switch closes the relay or solid state switch on the Intellitec which in turn provides current to the pump. It may or may not be Intellitec but the relay's purpose is the same.

Bob and justlou, I have a intellitec 00-00776-000 water pump controller. I called Intellitec and they said I need to change mine out for a 00-00776-200 controller and that would solve the problem. You can purchase them through Master Techs. Thanks for your info Bob. justlou if you don't know where its located its in your water bay on the right side of compartment at the top. Have not received part yet so I can not very that it is fixed.

Thanks for the info... Stubborn.

Where, or how can I contact Master Techs? Do they have a web site, etc.?

Bob, The web site is mastertech-inc.com and the price is 37.00 and 6.95 shipping. Intellitec also has an excellent tech support at 1-800-251-2408 press 4 for tech.
