SilverLeaf/Oasis Climate Configuration Question

I've been fiddling with my SilverLeaf Climate Configuration settings for the Oasis heating system. There are four possible settings: "Primary Only," "Secondary Only," "Both" and "Automatic." I have the first two figured out and understand how to use them. But, I'm having a hard time figuring out the difference between "Both" and "Automatic."

I have read the SilverLeaf documentation (actually, I've read several versions) and "Both" and "Automatic" would seem to do the same thing; switch from heat pump to Oasis when the outside temperature drops below 40 degrees. The only subtle difference I can detect is that "Both" seems to order the switch when the heat pump gets locked out by the outside temperature. Does that mean that "Automatic" adheres strictly to the 40 degree outdoor temperature while "Both" waits for the heat pump to shut down due to inefficiency at some lower cold temperature?
