SilverLeaf - Oasis Hot Water Issue
Spent a large part of yesterday getting the hot water in our 2017 Essex working again, albeit after a fashion. The Oasis portion of the touch screens froze (both the front and rear units showed different information) and I was unable to select the Oasis for either AC power or the diesel burner.
A call to Nappanee, removing and replacing the SilverLeaf fuses in the power reel bay got the screens both agreeing ... along with screen messages saying there was no AC available and both AC leg 1 and AC leg 2 were shed. A call to Oasis provided some additional troubleshooting help, plus I was able to install the remote panel (stored in bubblewrap and hanging off a ty-wrap near the Oasis) to get the unit fired up ... a big thank you to whoever decided on that "just in case" action! A very long call with SilverLeaf had me going through a further bunch of troubleshooting, a huge thanks to Art and his patience. In the end, the conclusion is that somehow the Oasis RV-C node is thinking one thing has happened and the rest of the system disagrees. There's apparently no way to reset the components to remove this conflict, it needs to get hooked up to an Omniscope and the offending nodes re-scripted. However, I'm still in the dark about why this happened, was it something I did or just random, and whether such actions get to be a fact of life for a SilverLeaf system.
My hot water is now working from the manual panel, while I get my head around what to do next. Has anyone else had a similar experience and what are their lessons learned from the whole Omniscope process? Thanks in advance.

Roger,
I've not yet experienced the fun you have had yet with the Oasis and Silverleaf. I do appreciate your write up on this though. "Art" and I had some great fellowship over the phone about a year ago, on a Silverleaf issue and he is fantastic to work with. I intend to follow this so that I can also learn about the omniscope.
Thanks,
Stu

This is precisely why I am not thrilled with my Silverleaf or any other master control system. Call me a Luddite, but I would much rather have individual controls that can be isolated and repaired as opposed to a highly complex master control system that can take down essential functions with almost no immediate means of repair. I know, I know, it's the 21st Century and all that.
Now please leave me be while I go listen to an 8 Track tape...

Roger,
Can you tell us more about the remote panel. I’ve seen the thing hanging off the Oasis but never got around to crawling in and opening it. At least I now know what it’s called.

I would also like additional information about that board. Mine is also in bubble wrap and hanging on the oasis unit.
I was thinking about putting that board is a more secure location, so it might not get banged around.

It is the remote panel referenced in the Oasis owners manual. I guess if you install the Oasis as a stand alone system it gets mounted in the coach and becomes the main Oasis control for the user. It has an on/off switch for the diesel burner and a toggle switch for the electric (AC1/AC2 - one/off/both) heating, each with their own green lights, plus a handful of red lights for errors.
In the Oasis bay for our Essex there's a larger status panel/box, it should be mounted on the wall, with multiple green/red lights to indicate the operation of the complete Oasis system. There's a smaller box, might be mounted next to the first (mine was just hanging from the wiring in that area), which is the Oasis RV-C Node box. Two connectors on this unit, you just unplug the smaller one and plug it into the remote panel ... now you can operate the Oasis from this panel as a stand alone system, independent of SilverLeaf. I have it hanging on ty-wraps in the bay, just means I need go outside and turn on the diesel burner before taking a shower!
According to Art at SilverLeaf, the basic (stand alone) Oasis control system checks for the availability of AC, etc and can even run the unit in a degraded mode. Adding it to the SilverLeaf system means the power and things like load shedding can be better prioritized to meet ambient temperature, power availability and comfort in the coach. Sounds very like the distributed avionics and power system found in today's modern aircraft.

Thanks for the Info Roger, I will have to take another look at mine to make sure I understand it in case of an emergency.
