Simple Guide to Battery Life in your RV - By Redbaron73
Over the years, I have seen a lot of questions regarding how to operate the batteries in our coaches. I have learned a lot from members on this site and other resources on the internet, and wanted to share a document that covers the house batteries A to Z.
The link below is to a PDF document. As I find more information or heaven forbid, find errors, I will update the document and post back to this thread.
Hopefully this resource can help you.

I found a few typos that I am going to correct.
On page 11 when computing [G] you should multiply the value in [B] and the value in [C].
The 12-volt bank size by the 20hr rating gives total capacity.
Also page 9 refers to an rvwatt. Dont go crazy trying to figure out what that term means, should be "2800-watt"

How many hours do you go between generator starts when you are boondocking?
I have a 2004 Winnebago 40' RV with 4-6V-GC2-Golf cart batteries. This is the equivalent to a 12V-450AH of battery storage.
I have a 17 cu-ft residential refrigerator and I get about 22-23 hours of battery live before my battery State Of Charge (SOC) drops to about 40% or 12.0V... and then I start my 7500W generator for about 2-3 hours every day.
Note: I have a Dimensions 2000W Inverter/100W Charger).
Maybe you get more or less useful battery life between generator starts?

On the BMK, I've read this and I've read the multi-page thread where multiple people have posted how they did it.
The thing I'm still confused on is hooking up the BMK to the inverter and the ARC control panel. Specifically, where does new wire (telephone/twisted pair) need to be run. I think to the inverter and if so, where is the inverter normally located?

The me-bmk is a network device and needs to plug into a network port. The kit includes the phone cable and a phone splitter adapter.
On mine, i routed the cable to the back corner of the bays where the AGS was, and installed the phone splitter in the network port of the ags. I then connected both cables into the splitter. One cable goes to the inverter and the other to the bmk. This puts all devices on the network.

Thanks. When I get my RV back, I'll figure out where everything is located. I don't know where the inverter or AGS are located. I should, but I don't.

Inverter is in between frame rails in the most forward pass thru bay.
Ags is on door side in the last bay before the pegboard bay, located on the wall.

Professor Redbaron
Professor Redbaron,
Your class in RV power management is outstanding. Any Newmar training institution should use it as a guide. It should be included by Newmar with every new coach delivered.
All RV manufacturers should create a similar guide and include it with all new coaches.
Thank you for this monumental document.
