Slide chipping floor

Baystar slide when closed makes white chips/marks on floor (linoleum). Has anybody found a remedy to stop this from happening? The rollers vibrate during travel and make the marks. I think I will try to find some very thin rubber pads that can be placed on floor as we close the sliders and the rollers can roll on top of the pads. But I am curious are their other fixes or ideas.

Slide chipping floor

After I installed hardwood flooring I made some floor protectors with 1/16” aluminum sheets that were coated with rubber on the back side.
I chose aluminum to prevent any damage from the rollers to telegraph thru a softer material.

Newmar also sells floor protectors for the slides.

Doesn’t sound normal. Can you find an adjustment somewhere to lift the slide a little more? Not my call, but I’d try to find out why it’s becoming a problem.

Nope is normal. Best of all Newmar considers it regular wear and tear. Have the same issue.

I also had the same on my 2016 CS. Newmar came out with thin black strips that they install during transport in 2017, from what I have been told they are not practical to reinstall every time the slide is closed.
I would describe the marks as pressure dents in the plastic tiles. Some wear does occur from roller movement in transit.

We were also told to tape thin pads down and that there were no adjustments. Need to do it every time you move or bring slide in.

Newmar sells their own floor protectors
that work VERY well and take only a minute to lay on the floor before closing the slides.
Best thing out there. IMO

We have had the same problem and when we were at the factory in Nappanee last month, the technician gave us about 8 (?) hard plastic pads that we put down when we are closing up the slides. They are a bit cumbersome, but when we are somewhere more than 1 night, we throw them into our tow car or in an outside bay. They seem to be working, however, there is still signs of previous damage.

If you don’t mind me asking how much does Newmar charge for their protectors?

We have the same problem on our Canyon Star with the laminate floor - in particular the frontmost slide roller was putting enough pressure on the flooring to break through the top laminate layer.

The Newmar tech (we are currently in Napanee for a short list of warranty items) checked the roller and found it was not flush with the floor and was putting all the weight on one edge of the roller. He shimmed the roller to correct the problem. They also had enough of the 2016 style laminate in stock to replace the damaged section. They also gave us enough (5) pads to use under the slide rollers.

Hopefully the pads will prevent any future damage but its one more thing to do before/after traveling. Still, I much prefer a solid surface floor to carpeting so it's all good.
