Slide Extension Vs leveling

Can anyone please give me the latest recommendation/procedure from Newmar regarding the order of slide extension Vs leveling? I have a 2017 Bay Star 3401 with a bedroom and a full wall slide.

On that note does anyone know if my slides are electric or Hyd? I am fairly sure the bedroom is electric but not sure about the FWS.

Thanks

Per my dealer during the walkthrough for my 2022 BSS 3226: slides out then level. This is because the slides fit into the slide openings and when the unit is off the jacks, there is less twisting of the frame and therefore, the slides wonít rub on the slides openings.

Iím pretty sure all of your slides are electric.

A much exhausted question. Use Search. But Wacdmc likely has your bottom line.

The Newmar owners manual that should have come with your coach, will have the specific protocol for your model and year. There is no standard rule on this from model to model or brand. If you do not have your manual, I would call Newmar customer service and ask-don't trust your dealer on this!

Agree with this with one addition. Newmar says to check the "reveal" before operating the slides. Since your coach could be parked on an unleveled pad, you could already have some frame twist. So before operating the slides, check the gap (reveal) around the slides and make sure that it's even. If for example you look at your slides before operating them, and the top corner of the slide is unusually close to the coach body, and the bottom corner for the same side has a large gap between the slide and the frame body, you may not want to operate that slide.

This is the correct answer.

DeWat is correct in this one, especially for a full wall slide (FWS). It matters not which order you choose level then extend or extend then level. What matters is the “reveal”. Before you push the extend button get out of the mh and check the vertical gap between the slide and the wall. If there is a gap running the full height of the slide (on both ends) then extend. If there is any pinching, touching, do not extend and level or de-level and try again. You may need to move the mh slightly.

the owners manual describes the correct procedure. generally, if you have air leveling, slides first, then level. if you have jacks, level first, then extend slides.
again, though the manual is the last word.

And the Real Bottom Line is that the coach needs to be reasonably level AND the chassis not twisted.
All of the procedures are to achieve the above before moving the slides in or out to minimize mechanical interference issues.

The manual on my DS with HWH hydraulic full wall off door side and two electrics on the door side says extend the full wall on the air bags then level and extend the two electrics. I've tried it both ways making sure the reveal is square before starting the process. It seems to work well either way as long as the reveal is good before starting. Most of the time we choose parks with good flat concrete pads but on one particular occasion we had a site finished with crushed granite and wasn't particularly level side to side nor front to rear. When I checked the reveal it was nearly touching at the top front with a large gap below. The back side was opposite. I went ahead and leveled it, rechecked the reveal and found it to be very even top to bottom. I extended the slide on jacks and retracted it before dropping the jacks with everything working perfectly. I was quite surprised at how twisted the chassis can be when the site is off like that.
