Slide locking nut loose…is that Ok?

I was looking at my new Bay Star 3014 and found a locking nut for the slide out loose. Should I tighten this. Seems like something like that should always be tight. I’m new to this slide mechanism, so appreciate your help. :-)

The nut on the top is the adjuster , so tighten the bottom nut and watch the top to make sure it doesn't turn while you're tightening . I can't see that it would ; but watch anyway .

Thanks you! Seems important. I wonder why Newmar would send it out with the nut loose like that.

By the way, what does it adjust and how would I know if it’s not adjusted right?

A very good question ; that I can't answer .

In the " Sticky " posts at the top of the list in Newmar owners forums there are many links and info on Newmar slides and adjustments .
In 13 years I've never had to adjust my slide so I haven't had to read up on the methods .
