Slide out controller failures
Our ‘07 Newmar KSDP has had 4 controllers on the Passenger side kitchen slide fail in the last year. We are not full timers, the controller would make from three to five cycles, and then fail. Our repair facility would change it out, claim it was a bad controller, and get us off the lot.
We just got back from Nappanee and they solved the problem. It was reported that several years ago, there was a corrective action to add a second ground from the J terminal on that controller directly to the chassis. Our kitchen slide controller had a ground from the J terminal, but rather than run an additional chassis ground wire, it was spliced into the original ground wire.
The tech noticed the same controller on the opposite slide did not have a second ground of any kind, so he added one.
So, we have cycled the slides( with their two new motors....YOU BETTER TORQUE THOSE BOLTS...) several times and they are operating like new.
I can’t say enough good things about the folks at Nappanee.
