slide out opening sequence

i am new to this coach. Wonder whats the right sequence to open the slides on 2022 London Aire.
to open the slides first, then level or to level first. on my previous coach, Tiffin bus, i had to level first.
also, how to level on air. i heard it is separate for the jack leveling.
thanks in advance

Your owners manual should have the proceedure for leveling and slideout operation. If I'm going to level my MH, I level it first, then send my slideouts out. I will bring my slideouts in before releasing my levelers.

If I'm on level ground I use my leveling jacks just for stability to eliminate rocking when walking around in the MH

Hope this helps, safe travels

Yes, read the owners manual. For hydraulic slides there may even be a preferred sequence for the order of slide operation. My Nimbus only has air leveling. It has to confirm level before the slides can open. They will close if level is lost for some reason. They all have to be confirmed close before the suspension will go into travel mode or let the coach move.

For our London Aire per the manual we always extend the slides with the engine running and sitting on airbags at ride height whether we are leveling using jacks or air leveling. We are on a Spartan chassis so we extend the slides then go into the digital dash under air leveling and choose the option in there.

According to Newmar, air up the coach engine running and put slides out then activate the leveling jacks to level. To retract the slides air up, retract slides and then raise leveling jacks.

Each brand has their own method of leveling, so what other brands do is of no help and could damage the coach.

The slides are square in the coach when it's at ride height. Once parked in the site, extend the slides and then level. The full wall slide is hydraulic, and battery or shore power will be enough for the slide to operate at full power. However, the other slides are electric. When I extend those, I do it with the engine running on high idle. This provides full 12 volt power to the electric motors.

Some will say that when plugged in, you get the same power, that's not necessarily true. When the slides operate, they can start to deplete the batteries until the charging system sees a drain and starts charging that bank.

However, I some coaches (model years) will not allow the slides to operate when the engine is running.

Lastly, the use of COMMON SENSE is important. On a rare occasion, you may pull into a site that is REALLY out of level. Even with the coach aired up, it can be really sitting weird. On those rare occasions, I find it better to level the coach with some blocks and then put the slides out.

I'll add to what DS Don said.

My 2018 Ventana has electric slides (no hydraulic.) Newmar says to deploy sides first while on full air, then level. My slides will not deploy with the engine running, so the first thing I do is plug in (also easier to do because I'm not crawling under the slide).

Additionally, Newmar says to check the reveal around the slide ends is equil indicating slide is square in it's hole.

The instructions go on to state that if a site is extremely out of level, then use jacks to level and then deploy slides. I've never had to do that.

All of this info is in the manual or can be found on Newgle.

That should be manuals (plural!) There should be a satchel with manuals from Newmar, Cummins engine, Allison transmission, generator, all electrical gear, appliances and more! If not included, then inquire why and demand they provide them. The manuals are invaluable as far as I'm concerned.

Newmar official position on order of slide operation

I was in Nappanee last summer and attended the Newgle class. This very topic came up. Here is a link to the Knowledge Article on slide operation:

http://newgle.newmarcorp.com/s/artic...e-of-Operation

Basically always operate when the coach is on air (after making sure the coach is not in a bind and there is even reveal around all slides).

I was at a Newmar rally last year on the west coast and even though both Newmar and ITR Oasis reps walked folks in detail through the proper order of the slide out extend/retract and leveling steps you shared and is outlined very clearly in this Newgle knowledge article, I'll be damned if half the owners in attendance didn't try to argue with them about how they were wrong. Both Newmar and ITR even shared that many dealers get this wrong during their initial walkthroughs with new coach owners as they don't keep track of what manafacturers require. For some reason it's a religious discussion that just makes some Newmar owners end up with avoidable slide out servicing/repair bills if they don't want to accept what Newmar itself is telling them is the correct procedure for their vehicles.

Best,
-Mark

Orit, we have a 2022 Ventana and LOVE it. Here is a link to the sales brochure.

https://newmar.imgix.net/wp-content/...nal-combo2.pdf

I tried to paste a link to the owners manual, but couldn't get it to work. Send me an email (viperjd90@gmail.com) and I will send you a PDF of my owner's manual.

DS Don was correct on his slides and leveling order.

All the best,

I'd be curious to hear what/why the change to the air ride leveling thought process compared to the older rv's, and does it apply to the older models as well... my 2005 Essex manual says level on hydraulic Jack's first, then extend, but in the same sentence, it's says you don't have to, but rv should be as level as possible. I've "heard" that the Spartan frame is stiffer than the Freightliner. I understand both thought processes. If I was in the south, I wouldn't be as nervous, but we love it here in Pa. but some sights are in the mountains and more of a challenge. On these trips, I pay a little extra for the concrete slab, if available. Like most have said, I'll continue with the manual recommendation for the coach.

Newmar says to extend and retract slides while at ride height.

Arrival: Plug in shore power (if available), extend all slides, level rig.

Departure: Get to ride height, retract all slides, unplug shore power.
