Slide out question while motor running?
I start motor and air up before retracting slides.
When fully aired up I attempt to retract slides while leaving motor running. I am able to retract 2 passenger slides, but must shut motor down to retract full wall slide.
This does not seem normal. Has anyone else experienced this?
Any suggestions to change and allow retracting all slides while motor is running?

Yes, this is the same on my coach. I air up, turn the engine off, and then bring in the three slides. Also, either plugged into shore power or running the generator while running slide motors.
You don't say what kind of coach you have.

Not on ours. I can retract FWS and kitchen slide. I do have to shut down engine for bedroom slide.
I asked Newmar why that is but did not get an answer. I was told though I can bring in bedroom slide before retracting jacks and airing up so I don't have to shut down engine again.

You are not supposed to be able to operate any slides with the engine running. There is a TSB to replace the controllers if the ignition lockout is not working. The problem was with C-Storm Rev C units if my memory is correct. I know I cannot operate any of mine with the engine on, which I agree is a pain.

I've been reading this FWS dilemma for years - "have to be level", "have to be aired down", etc and have a question - I can't turn my key on, let alone start the engine, with the jacks down without getting blasted out of the coach by the buzzer. Obviously I need to start the engine to air up.
You guys are saying that you have to be aired up, which obviously requires starting the engine, before bringing in the slides. Do you get the jacks down buzzer?
Does the process have you off the jacks by then also? What if being off the jacks but aired up now creates a unlevel situation?

I thought I read somewhere that this changed for the 2019’s?? If you kept the engine running as long as the parking break was on slides were operational. Can someone with a 19 confirm or deny?

Thanks for confirming. I assume the alternator will provide plenty of juice to extend / retract slides without excessive strain on the batteries if the generator is not running.

Yep slides and jacks on Ventana (2019) are now tied to the parking brake.

Most coaches have the key on to operate slides. Thor and some others - the key must be off. We had a used late model Dutch Star come through our dealership where the key was on for one side of the coach and off for the other side. That DSDP was the only coach I've ever seen like that.

I know what you're saying RKins. On my coach the warning buzzer for jacks down goes off when the key is turned to run. I always put slide outs in, retract jacks and then start engine. While coach is running to air up, I do a walk around to make sure all is well. When setting up, engine goes off, Jacks go down, then slide outs. Been doing this with my older coach and this one without any issues.
