Slide problem?
Still trying to troubleshoot a problem with my living room/kitchen slide on my 05 Essex 4502. If you hit the button the voice comes on telling you the lockouts are unlocking, then the lockouts do unlock, however the motor makes no attempt to run. If you then hit the switch again the motor seems to momentarily try to snug the slide to the side of the motorhome then the lockouts close as normal. The fact that the motor tries to snug up the slide seems to indicate that it is getting power. This happened once before and I was able to get it working by unplugging the wires to the controller for a while and plugging them back in. Not working this time. Haven't tried adjusting the little voltage adjuster. Perhaps that should be my next move??

Next time try hitting the short walls with a couple of palm slaps . Had a 07 and the bedroom would act up at this would correct the problem.

I know I'm showing my ignorance but what do you mean by "short walls"?

May be the controller, have you tried unplugging the controller and plugging the plug into one of the one of the other controllers

Have you looked at the less on the controller to see which ones are lit up.
Those units are finicky about clean connections.

Newmar suggested this. Problem is the wires are not long enough to reach to the rear controller and I can't seem to figure out how to remove the controller from the frame rail. Anyone know how it is attached?

If it is like mine, the controller itself sits in a black plastic box. The top of the controller where the connectors are is exposed at the top of the box. The front of the box comes off - just grab it and pull.

They are referring to the short walls on the slide.
When this happened to me, I hit the short wall with a medium soft hammer on the metal of the slide lock mechanism as soon as the lock unlocks. Most likely you need a slight adjustment on the proximity slide lock switch.

Let's see if I've got this. (Slow learner)
My lockouts are functioning properly but the slide doesn't move outward. It does, however attempt to snug itself up before closing the locking arms. That could mean my proximity switch is not sending a signal to the controller telling it that the lockouts are opened, therefore the controller won't start the motor??

This is what I see when I take the back off my rear bottom cabinet. Nothing looks to me like a switch of any sort??
Darn thing showed up sideways. There's a way to prevent that but I don't remember how at the moment.

You summed it up well.
It's worth a try to tap on the lockouts before you start looking into the controllers as the issue.

DandyDon: With the slide locks in the unlock position, have you tried to use two jumper wires at the unplugged wire harness from the control board supplying power in the correct direction to the slide motor to see if the motor will run to open the slide. If you need instructions on how to do this I have a document I can send you. I had a slide that wouldn’t go out and once it moved all was good. Rich.

I've seen those instructions somewhere but go ahead and send them. I'd appreciate it!
I just noticed something I hadn't checked before. I now have the lockouts unlocked and all three lights on the top right of my controller are lit. What does this indicate??
