Had bedroom slide "stop rod" snap. Hard to beieve a 1/2" steel rod could break. After investigating found the rod was not mounted correctly and was bound up when going in and out(like a bent bow). During factory pickup the service rep said the binding noise(large thumps) was normal-NOT! Was able to fix rod with a large connecting nut from ACE and now that properly aligned and the stops are adjusted properly-works great!

Its happen before Ometech had one brake and there is a post with pics. He bought new thread rod and I helped with some measurements for new stop nut locking locations.
If one of those limit nuts loosen up rod must come out of guide holes and thats when it gets caught than bent.

Dave, I didn't have a stop rod break, but the PVC conduit that goes in and out on the door side bedroom slide on my '07 EXDP broke..
It's the one that carries ALL those wires in and out for the switches and outlets for the wall...
We found the rod had come out too far and "missed" the alignment hole to carry it back in,thus is bent in two...
North Trail had little trouble replacing the rod itself, but splicing ALL those wires took some time...

Hi Dave! You are lucky you have the ability to fix those kind of problems. Paul

Yes, just got internet service.
Luckily the break was flush so did not have to replace rod. The coupler is secured with lock-tite and lock nut. On the original installation the rod was incorrectly mounted at the bar in the top of picutre-forcing the rod to angle up instead of laying level.

Great fix. I have the loud thump noise when my door side rear slide opens completely. Newmar told me that it was normal. I have not looked at the rod, nor do I know how to even access the rod.

Remove your bottom draws to see floor of slide may not be same as your bed slide for operation.

Does anyone apply any lubricant to the slide gear? I was told by the Newmar techs that it is not necessary and it will only attract dirt.
