Small Solar Panel on my Roof Works

So I replaced my batteries and blew out a solenoid in the process. While diagnosing the solenoid problem, I found that the inline fuse for my solar panel (the one the size of a ipad mini) on top had blown. The inline fuse is hidden away in the box which houses the solenoids. After replacing the fuse I have not had to run the engine or generator to recharge my chassis battery and the little battery diode is green all the time. Just thought I would share this small win.

Always wondered where it was now you have solved the big question.
Maybe a good thing the solenoid blew, depending on how you hooked up your battery cables many more items could have blown and maybe even a slide or two moving out while locked.
Remove negative battery first, than the positive battery cables, than hook up positive cables first, than negative cables last.
Use all battery disconnects and pull slide 12v power on controller or the fuse in 12v panel for slides.
Enjoy your Newmar and safe travels.

Just got home with my C. S. 3856, was on the roof to see if my old cover would fit ( not ) and saw the solar panel. I am now assuming that little panel is to charge the house batteries????

Panel is for the chassis batteries only and led indicator was red on my coach may have change now to green..
At the end of this link it explains the solar panel.
Need to read QT's # 3 some time much information in there.

Typically it charges the chassis battery. Its a trickle charge at best.

Yes my battery diode was red and I was considering replacing my battery; but, once I replaced the fuse it is now always green. The solar panel gets the chassis battery up to 14 volts when parked. And it only charges the chassis battery.

Thank you very much for posting this! Mine isn't currently working either, but I now where I'll check next.

And mine looks red.

The specs. say this is a 5 watt panel. That's NOTHING! I don't see it keeping the two large chassis batteries topped up unless it's in full Sun all day.

I tried a 5 watt panel on my dual battery 3/4 ton diesel pickup while I was away on a road-trip. I placed the panel on the truck's dashboard where it received sunlight most of the day, but at an angle. The vehicle was parked facing North. It wasn't enough.

So what I'm saying is, unless your coach is parked in full Sun, I doubt this little panel will keep the chassis batteries fully topped up for more than a month or so

How about a 2015 Ventana? This is great information but no one has yet to answer the question. WHERE IS THE GREEN/RED DIODE LOCATED? If they did I missed it and would appreciate a repeat answer. Thanks as always for your help.
