Smelly water???
We have been parked in Fl since Feb 1. We are on city water and not using the fresh tank or water pump. Since we have been here we have smelled an awful smell, like black tank smell. First we thought it was from the black tank but I rinsed out well and added cleaner, Dawn, and Calvin. Then we smelled when we took a shower which would be the gray tank. We put stuff down the drains. Then we smelled from the toilets again. Since we weren't using fresh tank I drained that water and there was that smell. I plan to shock the tank. Now we are getting this smell from the water dispenser in the refrigerator door. I put a new filter in fridge and still get the smell. Any ideas??? Suggestions???

Do you have a filter at water inlet? Might need replacing. I’d also recommend sanitizing the entire fresh water system.

Yes. I have 3 filters. I set up 5 micron, .5 micron and .2 micron ClearSource filters before water is in the coach or fresh tank. They were replaced the end of January before this trip. I would think if filters I would smell from every faucet. Maybe that’s wrong. I will need to sanitize all lines and tanks.

When was the last time you sanitized your fresh water tank and lines? I sanitize mine with bleach as recommended in the owner’s manual every spring. I agree that this is the first step that you should take.

Once sanitized takes that out of possibly things. When you change your filter do you add little bleach in housing? Even if just to rinse not run through system. I use little bleach with each change. Probably not so necessary as we full time.
I guess I missed not all faucets.

I ran bleach through system several months ago prior to this trip. I don’t add bleach to the filter canisters but do wash out with dish soap before new filters. One concern………. I left water in fresh tank for approx 1 month and when I drained it had an aweful smell……. Like black tank. That gives me reason to shock the system but if there is no water in tank and I’m not using fresh tank, why the smell exists?

Enough moisture to grow nasty stuff would be my guess. Wonder if you might have sanitize with a full tank of fresh water.

Have you asked your neighbors if they have the same problem? Is there a charcoal filter in your system?

As others have said, add a little bleach and after you run several tanks thru, the smell will go away. It’s just stale water and other than the smell, doesn’t hurt much. Use the tank water for showering and toilets and drink bottle water until it clears up.

We have the same problem in the park we have been in for three months. It's in Tampa. I sanitized all systems. One day I was talking to the neighbor and he complained of the same smell. It's a park problem here.

This is interesting b/c we have been at a campground a bit north of Clearwater. So more than one park in the area?

Do you leave your grey water valve open when parked and attached o the sewer hose? That smell can be coming up the sewer pipe, into your grey tank and into your coach through the sinks and shower drain. Just a thought especially since its sometimes tough to actually locate the origins of a smell.
