Solar Prep location

I have a 2021 Dutch Star. I ordered it with solar prep and have installed a solar charge controller and replaced the battery bank with lithium. my solar system and batteries are working as I wired all my solar array into the controller from thee ground. I have not installed the solar panels on the roof as of yet. On the roof thee is a 4" square box cover that says Solar prep. When I removed the cover I found that it is only a cover screwed to the roof. I called Newmar support and they said I need to drill hole in the roof. I drilled a 2" hole thinking I'd need at least that to get 2 #6 wires out. There are no wires under that location. Newmar says they are there but may have been pushed out of way. I tried to use my flexible camera and grab tool but with the insulation and the conglomerate of other wires that I don't dare grab I am at a loss. I'd rather not start cutting more holes. Any ideas?

Assuming you found the coil of 6 gauge wires in the basement when you installed your solar charge controller. Use a tone generator to locate the wires.

Mine were under the insulation and the only wires there.

Good luck! There is at least one other thread on this issue. I spent over a day fishing for the wires on my 2020 4081. I used a tone generator to try and locate them but could not pull them out. I ultimately cut a hole big enough to reach in with my hand (hole was smaller than cover plate). The wires were about a foot from the plate and were under other electrical wires. It was difficult to even pull them out with my hand. I would never have been able to fish them out. I drilled a smaller hole nearby to route to my combiner box. I used the cover plate to cover the original hole and used a lot of decor. Ultimately worked out fine but I regret waiting so long to cut the bigger hole as I wasted a lot of time. I did gain an appreciation of how well Nemar insulates the roof as there is a lot of it.
