Solid Surface Repair

The solid surface step skirt on the power floor panel that covers the stairs up has come off. Looks like it just did not have enough glue on it and in the 20 degree temps we have been having it delaminated and fell off. I am thinking of simply using some two part epoxy to stick it back in place. After cleaning the surfaces with some acid tone and gluing it back on I will use a couple of clamps to hold in in place while it cures. Figured I would bring the temp up in the coach to the mid 60’s to help the epoxy cure. Any of you have any other suggestions, maybe a different bonding agent? Thanks

Do we know what chemistry Newmar used?

Phenolic, epoxy, acrylic, or polyester resin? The chemistry matters for the adhesive to best bond the broken parts.

Personally I would try 3M weather strip adhesive. It bonds really well to smooth surfaces and once it gets a couple of days of hardening time it is tough, tough, tough but still retains a little give. I've used it for lots of things other than weather stripping. Good luck.

Solid Surface Repair

Will the panel need removal for any type of maintenance or repair behind it in the future? If so it may have been attached with silicone.

Silicone is used on solid surface countertops so things can move for expansion and contraction.

3M VHB double sided foam tape (or similar) would be my choice because it flexes with vibration and temperature. Bond is instant, no clamping required.

Hmmm, it looked like the original build used some type of non-flexible adhesive, which is why I thought epoxy. However, I like the idea of it being able to flex a bit, so silicon or the weather strip adhesive might be better options. Now that I think about it, my dad use to use 3M weather strip adhesive for lots of things. I had forgot about that. There are slides under the it floor, but you can access them when the floor is out and the door is open.
