Sound System question for 05 DS Owners

My 05 Dutch Star does not have a subwoofer (that I can find or hear).
For others with the same coach, did they come with a subwoofer to complement the sound system? If so, where would/should it be?
If not, has anyone added one?
The ceiling speakers are great, but a little bass would be nice. Looking for ideas to add one if anyone has done this.

Hicksra,
Look under the kitchen sink. That's where they are on a 2007 DS! Happy hunting!

I have an 02 and found the subwoofer quite by mistake while doing a thorough cleaning around the pedals. Why the subwoofer is where it is with no obvious grill or opening to the rest of the world is beyond me. I plan to correct that a bit. The only opening is toward the accelerator. I'm thinking the engineers aren't so keen about sound.

When telling someone else about my find he said Newmar was famous for putting them in odd places. For instance, he's seen them in a front basement bin. I guess with it turned up enough you can feel it but not hear it. Go figure.

Now, to figure out how it's connected to the radio. I have an amp in the compartment above the driver but I'm not sure how it comes on or if it comes on. From my radio controls, I hear no difference and am suspicious the subwoofer isn't getting power from the amp. In a week or two I'll pull the Sony radio and see what's plugged in to the back of it.

Well, I know it's not under the sink, but suspected that if I had one, it might be inside the dash somewhere. The sound system has been changed out from the factory set up, so if it's in there, it's not hooked up.

Byron,
If you find out how the sub woofer is suppose to connect, pls post your find. My 03 DS has a sub woofer in the same place that does not work. I tried to trace the wires but after 30 min. gave up. Also, just found the speaker by accident working on something else.

i will be sure to keep you informed, Jeff. I found mine by accident, too. It'll be a week or ten days before I have time to look. Also, my son will be around to help in the process.

any chance of finding wiring diagrams for years earlier? I'm sure they exist somewhere. Hope they aren't hidden from real people.

Ours is located under the dash in the center. It has 4 wire inputs (2 channel speakers) and 4 wire outputs. The 5 channel sony amp feeds the Two front speakers thru the subwoofer then to the regular speakers. It is powered form a 110ac line that plugs into the duplex outlet by the pax feet right next to the slide controls speaker box. The input/outputs are not clearly labeled an if hooked up backwards will blow a small barrel fuse inside the subwoofer. Our used MH came with a blown fuse and that's how I know. The subwoofer says no user serviceable parts inside WRONG. Now we enjoy the thumping base. Our subwoofer and 5 Channel stereo came as original equipment from the factory when built on our 1999 4080 MA
