Source for locating Rv campgrounds
We are leaving for our first big trip in mid September. Southern California to Vermont. I have been using the Allstay app to locate campgrounds, but am wondering what sources you experienced travelers use to locate good overnight sites.

Campendium. Allstays Camp & RV. Escapee's Days End Directory. RV Park Reviews.
Good overnight sites are in the eye of the beholder. Some only want resort full hookups. Some can park overnight at a truck stop. These four sources can cover just about the entire spectrum and you get to choose what is 'good' for your clan.

We use campgroundreviews.com and casinocamper.com
There is a Walmart identifier that lets you know which Walmarts allow overnight RV parking, but my wife uses it and I don't know the site. You can probably Google it.

We have been used Good Sams book for 20 years and their online version recently and always had very good luck. Tried RVparky once and had a bad experience with one of their recommendations so never again. Good Sams, Woodall's and some others have people actually go out and review on site the campgrounds. You can trust what your going to.
We booked a overnight stay at a campground in VA last year. Glowing reviews on RVParky and on the campgrounds website showed a beautiful campground. When we arrived it was nothing like what was posted. Door to office was padlocked shut and the worst campground I have ever driven through. We were lucky it was daylight and we could see what we were getting into. As we drove out the local Police were driving in, we had quickly found another campground and had drive another hour that night. Very easy to fake a review on some of these apps.

IRV2.com is a good place to ask
Ask in one of the Regional sections like this: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f70/
Once you find some people that have like interest to yours, then you can trust their suggestions
We also use Good Sams Trip Planner: http://trips.goodsamclub.com/ and google maps

That's me
[ Some can park overnight at a truck stop.[/QUOTE]
I'm not a fan of Walmart camping nor do I enjoy the Truck Stops.
What I search for is that spot where the Road Dept. piled up gravel to repair the roads and left a large flat graveled area when they were done
I also look for the closed & out of business gas station.
Of the resources folks have listed is there one that would serve me best or is this an untapped niche market waiting for someone to set up a website and get RICH
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I usually type in on the 'net a city asking for CGs nearby and usually find something decent. I also use Good Sam though have found some of their review numbers 'iffy'. Then there is KOA - usually OK and occasionally bad. RV Park Reviews is fine if their reviews are current - but often are several years old. Quality stays, as said above, are often in the eyes of the beholder. We went to a KOA CG that had reviews that said it was great or even better. It would quite probably have been the second worst CG of any we had stayed in - ever - and ended up a drive out after a pass through.

RV park reviews and overnightrvparking
I find campgroundreviews.com most helpful for parks and overnightrvparking.com most helpful for Walmarts/casinos, etc. I like Allstays, too, as they have rest stops, truck stops, etc on the map, as well. But rvparkreviews has much more relevant info about each campground than Allstays and overnightrvparking has many more details about each location than Allstays.

We mainly use "campgroundreviews.com". Campers provide the ratings for this site.
We also use Goodsams.com, but I sometimes wonder about their rating system.

We are full timers and have stayed at more than 50 parks in the last 11 months. Just as others have found, we use rvparksreviews and an app called camp finder. If all else fails I'll use the KOA or GoodSam online but I have found their ratings kinda hit or miss. We have not found Allstays to be particularly useful. And don't forget Google/Bing/etc.
