Spare tire

How do you carry a spare tire? There is no room under my 2015 2903- 22000# chassis to mount a holder for a spare. I have a 22.5" rim and tire that I want to carry. The weight is not a problem to add to the coach, but where do I put it. One body shop suggested a custom continental kit for the rear. I think this would look bad. I need some helpful ideas.

I do not carry one, and I didn't carry one when I drove truck over the road, then and now, roadside service carries it for me.......might be faster if you have one when needed........but, In my coast to coast driving, never needed one, and the same with my RV and even autos.........lucky me. Here is some reading till others chime in......... https://www.google.com/search?q=spar...com&gws_rd=ssl

Spair tire

The carry, or not, of a spare has been discussed many many times. Here the OP asks how to carry one, can the discussion be kept on this point? I doubt it...

My current coach has a standard spare tire carrying point between the frame rails at the rear of the coach for a mounted spare. Albeit this is usually with 19" ties methinks. Previous coach I carried an uncounted spare in a storage compartment.

We are heading to Alaska next year and I want to carry at least a spare tire so roadside assistance can change it out for me, these RV tires might not be too easy to find along the AlCan highway. My solution is to install roof top safari rack on my Jeep that is capable of holding about 300 pounds and securing the spare 315/80/22.5 tire to the rack. These tires weigh about 135 pounds so it should work out ok. The roadside assistance guy and myself should be able to manhandle the tire to the ground if needed.

My comment was not directed at you, nor did I think you did not answer the OP's question. Rather my comment was intended for future posters to the thread. Sorry my intent was misunderstood.

Hi zrobotman,
I carry a fully mounted spare tire/wheel. The assembly fits into the center of the coach basement. My tire size 275X70X22.5 is not common. I carry the spare so roadside assistance can change the tire. This allows me to purchase a replacement at my convenience and getting the best price via the FMCA Advantage program. I have changed all the tires on my coach. This taught me what to carry if I had to do it myself. It also taught me that roadside assistance is worth the price.

The last spare tire I saw on a gas coach was on my 03 chassis, they mounted a angle iron rack under the gas tank in rear that folded down to remove the tire and had a wire attached to a pivot wheel to lower rack with hole hidden behind number plate, to lower with nut end of tire iron.
In the last 90's coach's Newmar had the rear bumper pull out with the tire in a wire basket mounted to the bumper on gas coach.

Good luck in your search.
I built a Spare Tire carrier similar to the above link, when we went to Alaska in 2012. It fit on to the Tow Bar just behind the Receiver Hitch. Worked great...but never needed it! But there was comfort knowing it was there.
