Yes, the coach mfg'ers sometimes change the specs. For instance, when Winnebago used the Spartan MMGT chassis to build the Ultimate coaches, they bought only the front & rear sections from Spartan, then inserted their own middle rails. In the coach specs they called it a "Spartan MMGT semi-monocoque" chassis.

I was looking into this back in August of 2020. We ended up not purchasing and then the pandemic hit. Sorry, it was not completed as I was hoping to. But there is some very useful information that other members provided and I pulled from similar threads.

I have never had a Freightliner but do have a Spartan. I can only speak to their "HELP" when in a pinch. Their customer service is "second to none". Whether it's day, night, weekends, holidays, or after hours there is someone to help, and help they do!!!! Their attitude is "if we can we will". Just had a DEF issue on Memorial Day and you'd NEVER believe it was a holiday by the depth of service I received. Thank you Dave.

FL states it has over 3000 locations for service but most aren't set up for nor do want to do either warranty work or even regular service. Over the years of our Newmar ownership we have found all the Spartan Service Centers are ready and know what they are doing. From our experiences and talking to other Newmar owners we feel Spartan has better service centers then FL.

I have a spartan now (bought used so didn't really have the option) but would be tempted to get a freightliner given the choice- reason being, and the only reason, the main Spartan service center is up in Michigan (a day away) but Freightliner is just down the road from me in SC (an hour or so away). I will say though, every time I have called spartan looking for information (capacities, part numbers, etc.) for my 2001 DSDP, they have been quick to provide it.

You certainly don't have to go to Michigan. Other service center are excellent, also.

Holy fake news, Batman.

Freightliner Custom Chassis has 450 service locations throughout the US. ALL of which service Freightliner motorhome chassis, warranty or not.

I had a Spartan and now have a FL. Iím very happy with FL service as are many, many other owners. Letís put blind brand loyalty aside and stick with facts.

Of course not. You also don't have to go to Napannee for coach warranty repairs/ service. The dealer just isn't the same as factory direct service though.

We're likely going to get our next one already broken in though so it's probably going to be whatever it has. I wouldn't be scared of either chassis.
