Stale Water in Tank ?
What do you guys do with the water in your storage tank, when parked for a few months where you have " city " water connected ? Do you drain the tank or leave it full and drain / refill before you hit the road again ?

A few months, I'd drain it. When I refill, I start with the drain open and flush it a bit. Then close drain and fill for travel. (If I know I'm headed to a place with water, I don't fill all the way)

If it is chlorinated city water in your tank it will store for 4-6 months and be fine for consumption (presuming your tank was sanitary when filled). Usually to be safe, any storage over 3 months, I drain and refill before use.
If you have concerns about quality of water in your tank ........ do a forum search for how to disinfect your tank with household bleach. It is easy to do, cheap, and will give you peace of mind .

I leave mine full and drain/refill before I hit the road again....(as "gruelens" wrote: "If it is chlorinated city water in your tank it will store for 4-6 months and be fine for consumption").
BTW my water tank and system has only been sanitized twice in 18 years, (132k miles).

Hi britcon,
I always completely drain the fresh water tank. If the coach is level, one will not get all the water out. Lower the front of the coach to completely drain the fresh water tank.

I'm with Mel. I only sanitized my tank once in ten years and I doubt that it was necessary. Always leave the water in at the end of a trip. If I go more than three months, I will drain and refill, that's all. Chlorinated water in a closed tank is good for a very long time.

I usually leave about half a tank in there to allow for the times the CG shuts off the water for repairs. Happens more times than one would imagine. :-). I'll drain and refill every month or two while parked and again just before leaving on a trip.

I used to drain every time we stopped. Then the campground lost power, which shut off the well.
Now I leave at least 1/2 a tank at all times. If I feel the need, I'll drain and refill.
