STAR chassis

Are both the Freight Liner SL and Spartan K3 chassis modified to meet the STAR foundation in the MA, LA, Essex and King Aire. If not what are the differences? Any opinions on which chassis is better or worse than the other in the areas of ride, handling, maintenance, storage etc.

The King Aire used to be on the K3GT (K4) chassis but about two years ago it was downgraded to the K3 STAR chassis.

Only the Foretravel Realm and IH45 use the K4 chassis today.

All the Newmar diesels get the Star chassis even the King Aire now. It use to be that the King Aire did get a special Spartan chassis but in 2016 when Newmar went to the Star chassis they included it on the King Aire. KA does have 200 gallon fuel tank and a different front shock but other then that it's same as MA, LA and Essex.

The Spartan chassis now has in 19 a 5 year warranty, thicker main rails/cross members, Safe Haul, and service center location for most filters. There is a reason all King Aire's come on a Spartan chassis and why if one has a choice, to after doing their homework would choice a Spartan..Newmar Man

I stand corrected, didn’t realize it had changed. we share the same thoughts on the Spartan
